What can I put on a label?

The discretion to decide what image(s) and text are affixed to our products remains ours at all times. Acceptance of artwork should under no circumstances be construed as an endorsement of support from the wineries for the advertised or sponsored product/brand or the company manufacturing, distributing, marketing or otherwise associated with the product/brand. Signature Wines & Beverages requires a signed release from an authorized company representative prior to the use of any registered trademark. Signature Wines and Beverages will only produce material that complies with our high ethical and professional standards including, but not limited to: matters of good taste, public policy, and government regulations. No labels displaying pornography or profanity will be accepted. Please visit our graphic specifications page for examples.

What is the online label designer?

Signature Wines & Beverages’ new and improved online label tool allows users to easily design, preview and order personalized beverages online. Customers may choose from our huge selection of professionally designed label templates or they may create their own.

The online label designer allows you the flexibility to upload your own photos or artwork, and gives you the ability to rotate, crop, and resize your images for just the right look. Users can also personalize 2-5 lines of text to add a custom message. The tool also allows you to drag and drop your images and text for maximum flexibility. Once a label is created you can instantly view your design on the beverage of your choice. Click here to see a variety of wedding, corporate event or special occasion designs to choose from.

Can I purchase custom labels only, without ordering a beverage?

Yes, we currently offer labels only without purchasing a beverage. You can find out more information here.

I ordered labels without a beverage from you before. Do I still have to pay the setup fee?

Unfortunately our online ordering system must charge the setup fee for all label orders placed online. If you are a previous customer and ordered labels without a beverage once before and want to reorder the same labels again, we can waive your setup fee if you contact customer service. All you need to do is reply to the order confirmation you receive after placing your order, and request that we waive the fee. You also may contact Customer Service here. Please include your order number for your new order along with the order number for your previous order when requesting your setup fee to be waived.

For pre-designed labels, can I change the font or font size?

Our new and improved label design tool now allows more flexibility than ever before. Now users can change the font types for their personalized label. Each label offers up to 5 lines of text and you can customize the font for each line. In addition, the design tool now allows users to preview their label creation instantly on the beverage of their choice.

How will my labels be printed?

Our labels are printed using a direct-to-digital process, which ensures quick turnaround times while maintaining extremely high image quality standards.

Is there an extra charge for custom images?

No! All our labels come free of charge with any beverage purchase. This even includes labels that allow you to upload an image onto them, and labels you design on your own.

Can I have more than one label design on my order?

Yes, you may order as many different beverages and labels as you like. At this time however, you must choose different wines to have different labels. For instance, you cannot put 2 different labels on the same wine. If you have chosen a pre-designed label that has wine information on it, this will automatically change with each wine you order, and the wine will then be labeled with that respective information.

Troubleshooting

Are you using a MAC?

MAC Internet Explorer 5.5 and Safari 2.0 do not support the online label designer. You may experience problems with the tool loading or crashing during use. We recommend using Mozilla Firefox on your MAC. Download it HERE.

Purchasing and Shipping

How long will it take to process my order?

Wine: Typically, it takes about 3 business days in-house production time to process your order. The production process time does not include transit time to you. Shipping times vary depending on the destination.

Water: Typically, it takes about 7-10 days production time to process your order as this is done through our sister facility in WA. The production process time does not include transit time to you. Shipping times vary depending on the destination. What is your refund/return policy?

We stand behind our products by offering you a prompt refund or replacement of your labels and/or beverage if they have a manufacturing defect. This includes corked or damaged wine shipments.

Wine Return Policy

All returns must take place within 30 days of delivery.

If there is an error in your order that is the fault of Signature Wines & Beverages, or your product has arrived damaged, please contact us as soon as possible and we will gladly credit your credit card for any damaged portion, or the portion that is the error of Signature Wines & Beverages, excluding shipping charges. Please do not return orders without contacting Customer Service first.

If you do return your product for any other reason, within 30 days, we will gladly credit your credit card for any returned, unopened portion (less a stripping/restocking fee if applicable), excluding shipping charges. Please also be advised that due to state to state shipping laws in AZ, CT, D.C.,FL, IN, MI, NJ, & NY the wine may not be able to be returned to us and the sale will be final. Please contact our customer service department for specifics. This policy also includes any returns relating to color-matching, font, text and/or layout. Please refer to our Artwork Specifications page. Refunds will be credited back to the credit card with which you ordered the product.

Can I make changes to my label, order information or cancel my order after I place my order online?

We understand that sometimes a customer will need to make changes in their order. In the event that you do need to change or even cancel your order, we will do our best to help you make the changes. If your order is not currently under production, there will be no additional charges or fees applied for canceling or changing your order. If your order is in the pre-production phase, charges may apply for changing or canceling your order. If your order is already in production, we cannot guarantee that we can change it or even cancel it. If your order is already in production, and you cancel your order, you are responsible for all costs incurred up to the time of cancellation, including but not limited to any and all restocking fees, label printing, and even finished product. We will however make every effort to stop production in a manner which would save you as much expense as possible. We will notify you of any charges that will be incurred in these cases.

What are my shipping options?

Wine: The shipping method used is determined by the state the wine is shipping to. Not all freight companies will deliver wine to every state, so we will generally use the most economical method for that particular state unless an expedited method is requested. Our main courier is FedEx. You will be prompted to choose your available shipping option at the time of checkout if necessary.

Water: UPS is used for shipping water.

Is Express Shipping available?

Yes. When ordering wine, due to state alcohol shipping laws this availability depends on the state you are shipping to. Please contact customer service for details. Express shipping is not available for Saturday or Sunday deliveries.

Can wine be shipped to my state?

Currently, we can only ship wine to the following states: AK, AZ, CA, CT, DC, FL, HI, ID, IL, IN, IA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, ND, OH, OR, SC, TX, VA, WA, WI, WV, & WY.

Why can you ship some wines to one state but not another?

State laws regulating alcohol shipments prevent us from shipping certain products into certain states or "dry" zip codes or areas of a state. If you can receive a wine to your zip code, it will show on the wine list page when ordering.

Can water be shipped to my state?

We can ship water to anywhere in the U.S.

Why do you recommend that the wine be shipped to a business address?

Due to the alcoholic content of our product, we recommend that there be an adult present at the time of delivery. We apply "Adult Signature Required" stickers on all our wine shipments to prevent minors from receiving our packages. By U.S. law, all couriers must receive an adult signature and ask for proof of legal drinking age before wine is released. UPS and FedEx will not leave packages unattended, even if the customer signs a release. Because of this, we also cannot ship wine to P.O. boxes or APOs

What are your delivery standards?

Currently our track record for on time shipments is over 98% and we make every effort to ship all our products on time or even ahead of time when possible. By most business standards that is excellent. There are times however, when circumstances beyond our control cause us to miss a shipping date. We dislike missing a shipping date more than our customers.

On those infrequent occasions where your order does not ship on the date stated on your email order confirmation, we will do the following:

1. If possible, we will upgrade your shipping level, at our expense, in order for you to receive the order by the expected delivery date.

2. If we know we will not make the shipping date designated on your confirmation, and it is not possible to expedite the shipping so that you will receive the order by the projected delivery date, then we will notify you, and give you the option to cancel your order at no charge.

Note: All WINE orders are F.O.B. Hayward, CA. All WATER orders are F.O.B. Kirkland, WA. If we have shipped the order on the expected shipment date, we cannot be responsible for delayed delivery due to a common carrier (UPS, FedEx, etc.) not meeting their delivery promise. Common carriers and Signature Wines & Beverages are not responsible for delays due to "Acts of God."

Do you have a minimum size for orders?

Wine: For personalized labels, the minimum order is (2) for full size bottles (750 ml) and (1) case (24 bottles) for mini champagne bottles (187 ml.)

Water: 1 case (or 24 bottles.)

Why are shipping costs for beverages so high?

Wine and water bottle shipments are both bulky and heavy, and many states require an intricate distribution system and a signature by persons of legal drinking age. The combination of these factors accounts for the high cost of beverage shipping.

Why am I taxed for out-of-state beverage purchases?

By law, many states require that local sales tax be added to alcoholic beverages even if purchased outside of that state. In some states, alcohol may have its own tax rate which differs from the base sales tax rate. Sales tax charged on water will be in conjunction with the tax laws in your ship-to state.

Can I track my order?

Yes. We have an account management feature on our site where you can retrieve this information after your order has shipped. We also have an automated system that sends out an e-mail to you with your tracking number after your order ships. You may also request a tracking number by contacting our customer service department.

How will I know when my beverages have been shipped?

Once your order is placed, you will immediately receive an e-mail confirmation which will include your order number(s) and details of your purchase including an expected delivery window. In most cases, you will also receive email notification when your order has been shipped. Please see your order confirmation for estimated processing and shipping times.

Why do certain shipments require extra time?

Many states prohibit direct wine shipments to consumers, and we must therefore use a three-tier distribution system, sending the wine through a wholesaler and a retailer in the destination state before it can be passed on to the consumer

Is it possible to purchase custom labels for wines other than those on your wine lists?

We are constantly evaluating our wine portfolio to ensure that we offer a variety of high-quality wines that are in great demand, and we are always open to suggestions. If you are interested in a wine or winery that is not currently featured in our portfolio, please send us an email here.

What does the word 'varietal' mean?

The name Merlot, for example, refers to the principal grape varietal used to make a wine bearing the name. Other common varietals include Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. Blends, such as table wines, are made by combining different varietals to achieve a certain character.

What are tannins?

Tannins are organic compounds found in the roots, seeds and stems of red grape plants and are imparted into the skins of red grapes. Tannins can also be picked up from oak barrels, and therefore can be found in barrel-aged white wines as well. These compounds lend texture, flavor, complexity, and a sometimes astringent tang to red wines. Tannins account for the mouth-pucker experienced when tasting young, full-bodied reds such as Cabernet Sauvignon, and they also provide antioxidants that enable these wines to age for long periods in the bottle.
